Anna Spiro Has Done It Again…

September 26, 2012 § 1 Comment

My favourite Aussie designer, Anna Spiro, has created magic again. This time in the form of a breathtaking custom armchair upholstered in a kilim rug. Swoon.

See more of Anna’s magic over at Absolutely Beautiful Things.

Spotlight on… Pip Boydell

April 19, 2012 § Leave a comment

I first fell in love with Pip Boydell’s work after seeing her featured on Anna Spiro’s gorgeous blog Absolutely Beautiful Things. I then went to Black & Spiro to see some pieces in person and was captivated by the intricacies of each and every work. I love the way Pip captures the beauty of everyday objects in still life and makes each one seem special, individual and spectacular. I would love to own one of her original pieces but I’m just waiting for the right time and the right piece to come together…

Pip also writes a gorgeous blog, PipShining, which you can see here. Her blog was the source for all these gorgeous photos of her work.

Can’t wait to see something by this very talented artist hanging on my wall one day! -C x

Wallpapered Powder Rooms

April 4, 2012 § 2 Comments

I absolutely love wallpaper. Used in the right way it adds incredible bold glamour and texture to a space. Used in the wrong way it can be completely overwhelming, not to mention expensive and difficult to remove.

I think the best use of wallpaper is in a small space like a powder room or toilet. Using wallpaper in a powder room gives drama to a space that usually receives little to no love. Because powder rooms and toilets are usually so small you can splurge on a designer wallpaper that you would never dream of using in a larger space.

Bathroom Bliss – Anna Spiro’s Subway Tile

I know I bang on about Anna Spiro a lot on this blog, but seriously, the girl’s style is impeccable. I mean, just look at this bathroom…

I love everything about this room, the vintage table converted into a vanity, the mismatched mirrors and the beautiful accessories.
I know white subway tiles with light grey grout divide the masses but I am a hardcore fan. I think it’s such a beautiful, classic base to build a bathroom around in any style of house be it new or old.

Here are some more stunning examples of subway tile in some gorgeous bathrooms…

Anna Spiro

Behold the magnificence that is Anna Spiro’s design aesthetic. Anna is a Brisbane based interior designer who happens to be my very favourite Australian designer. As well as directing her design firm Black & Spiro, Anna also owns an incredible interiors shop in New Farm that carries the same name. From the moment I discovered Anna’s designs it was love at first sight…

I think that my favorite thing about Anna’s design aesthetic is her use of beautiful bright textiles and vintage painted furniture. Each room and each piece is unique and provides a refreshing change from a lot of the ‘cookie cutter’ design that is prevalent in the rest of the design world. -C x
