My Favourite Design Books

September 18, 2012 § Leave a comment

I have a bit of an obsession with beautiful design books. A beautiful, well structured book can add so much to a space, not just intellectually but as a design feature. They add a pop of colour, illustrate your interests and add a ‘lived in’ vibe to any home. Just look at this gorgeous book-filled room for what can only be described as Proof.

Here are some of my favourites…

Design Sponge at Home by Grace Bonney

Food, Fashion, Friends by Fleur Wood

The Stylist’s Guide to NYC by Sibella Court

Decorate by Holly Becker

Nomad by Sibella Court

And the design book to end all design books…

Domino – The Book of Decorating by the domino editors

Gorgeous Bookshelves

I love built in bookcases and think they have amazing decorative potential when used to display beautiful books as well as beloved collections of decorative items and art work. I also think they can be a great way to work the television into the lounge room decor, televisions being the bane of every decorator’s existence.

I would love to have some bookcases like these to house my ever growing collection of books and accessories! -C x

Miscellaneous Monday

Not much of note in the last few days so I thought I would share some miscellaneous images of my day to day…

These beautiful pink spray roses are making up for the fact that my Mum’s incredible roses are too far away!

I haven’t finished styling the inside of my new bureau yet (I just can’t find exactly what I’m after!) but here’s a sneak peek of one little guy that made the cut…

Miscellaneous garden goodness…

A brand new coffee table book that has rounded out my Sibella Court collection…

Have a lovely week everyone! -C x

It’s here! It may have taken me 5 hrs to put together but my Ikea bureau is finally in place in my lounge room. Here it is with some basic styling…

I haven’t styled the inside yet so when it’s done, I’ll be sure to show you! -C x

Friday Fabulousness – A Day In The Life

February 3, 2012 § 1 Comment

The Magazine…

March April INSIDE OUT features the incredible home of fashion designer, Marnie Skillings.

The Flowers…

New pink Dahlias to brighten up the front door.

The Cafe…

One of my very favorite cafes on the Gold Coast, Koncubine Espresso Bar in Chirn Park has delicious coffee and a mouth watering array of cakes and sandwiches. Love.

The Books…

Beautiful new books, ‘Marie Claire Colour’ by Bridget Bodoano and ‘Leisurama Now’ by Paul Sahre. Both inspire serious “home envy”.

The Throw…

This beautiful cotton throw from Ikea adds a bold shot of monochromatic goodness to a guest room that was starting to look a little pink. Not that anything could ever be too pink!

The Vintage Furniture…

I uncovered a real gem today while browsing some of my favorite second-hand places. This solid timber meat safe was in need of a bit of work and was very well priced but I am trying not to shop so much so I left it behind. Tres tempted though… -C x

Pastel Perfection

I’ve noticed this incredibly beautiful room on a number of blogs recently and each time I see it I fall a little bit more in love with it! It’s the living room of Home Stylist Ana Antunes, who’s work I’ve always admired. Although lavender and spearmint is a colour combo I wouldn’t usually be attracted to, I think it’s all the beautiful, glamorous details and accents that really draw me into it. The room also features a number of interiors trends that I LOVE. Chevron, mirrored surfaces, a ceramic stool, beautiful floorboards and my favorite interiors book, ‘Domino’. Love it all, love love love -C x

I Love Books and Coffee

Say what you will about this ‘End Of The World’ style weather we’ve been having on the GC, but It’s certainly given me a chance to catch up on some of the beautiful books I’ve purchased recently and consume dangerous amounts of caffeine.

From Top: 'The Stylist's Guide to NYC' by Sibella Court, 'Amazing Face' by Zoe Foster, 'Domino The Book of Decorating' by the Domino team, 'Design Sponge at Home' by Grace Bonney and 'Decorate' by Holly Becker

I purchased all of these beautiful books from The Book Depository, an amazing online book store with incredible prices and free shipping worldwide! Bonus!

Anywhoo, If you’re living in South East Queensland I hope you stay safe and dry! -C x
